Springfield High School Morning Announcements
Good morning, Springfield High! Today is Tuesday, August 19th
Can we add an announcement back on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays of the Peace Room being open and available to students for support in the Guidance Office-8:30-9am and 11:30-2pm.
EVERY DAY COUNTS AT SHS! This year we are tracking attendance and our school goal is 91%. Each day that your grade is over 91% we will put a ping pong ball in a vase outside the main office and fill a square on a poster in the Commons. At the end of the semester, the grade with the highest number of days over 91% will get a reward! Every student who has 100% attendance between now and Homecoming will get a discount on their ticket. SHS will also recognize individual classrooms, teachers, and students for achieving over 91% attendance. Be here every day.
Why attendance matters?
When students are here, their grades improve. Students with less than 10 absences last year had a GPA of 3.1, those with 10-20 have an average GPA of 2.3, and those with over 20 drop to a 1.8 GPA average.
Exam exemptions depend on having 5 or less excused absences and no unexcused absences.
Grades in a class can result in 0's if unexcused.
Learning happens here, not at home.
Senators show up, Senators learn and Senators lead. Lets crush 91% this year.
Homecoming is early this year and right around the corner! The Homecoming dance will be held on September 13th with the Homecoming football game and tailgate taking place September 12. More info will be shared later, but prepare to celebrate in just four short weeks! Want a discount on ticket price? Show up every day!
